Who we are

Nestled just off Ashford High Street is the revolutionary pop-up arts venue Revelation – atmospheric, intimate and quirky. Since 2011, the venue has welcomed international musicians, legendary performers and incredible experiences for the community.

It was only a matter of time before Ashford developed a top-quality arts venue. Over 10 years, Ashford’s population has gained an additional 15,300 people and that trend is continuing with  a projected 40%  rise over the next 15 years. With the highest rate of growth for any Kent district and three times higher than the county average, the need for a multi-purpose venue to support the growing community and arts audiences was overwhelming.

In 2011, this vision was realised and following major investment and support from St Mary’s Church, Ashford Borough Council and Arts Council England, Revelation was created.  With exceptional acoustics, high quality sound and projection systems the amazing space at St Mary’s Church offered a new home for creative talent in Ashford and a  truly ‘Up Close and Personal’ experience for all who visit

Recorded in The Domesday Book of 1086, St Mary’s has been home to a working church for thousands of years and continues to offer both traditional and also more relaxed family friendly services, while now also embracing our award winning cultural venue. What we do

Revelation offers a unique up-close and personal experience presenting renowned artists and supporting up-and-coming local talent. Setting up shop in a stunning church with 1000 years of history just a stone’s throw from the high street, Revelation is at the heart of Ashford’s cultural offer. Its mission is to be a beacon for the arts, in which Ashford's growing community can come together to create and experience high quality performances.

With its distinctive and unusual setting, Revelation has quickly become one of the most vibrant and exciting small venues in the county, winning the 2017 award for Best Cultural Venue at the Kent Creative Awards. Revelation aims to be a cultural leader within the town, recognised for its role in invigorating the local economy by Ashford Borough Council, who have supported it with financial investment and political support.

Enjoy a safe visit to Revelation

We're delighted to welcome you back to Revelation for full capacity events. While we are no longer subject to Covid restrictions, we want you to feel safe when you visit.

At present we do not require any evidence of a negative test, vaccination or immunity for entry to Revelation. However there are some changes to how we operate and things you can do to help us to protect you, our staff, artists and crew from infection.

Our recommendations:

  • If you are vulnerable, wear a mask if you are able and avoid close contact with visitors who have chosen not to wear a mask
  • Wash your hands frequently and use the hand sanitiser stations around the venue
  • Use contactless payment at the bar and ticket office
  • Get vaccinated if you can
  • We continue to operate one-way entry and exit, with doors and windows regularly opened for fresh air circulation. Please use our outdoor spaces, closing doors during performances to avoid noise disturbance

Please do not visit if:

  • You are ill. If you become ill while visiting, please pack up and go home
  • Anyone you live with is displaying Covid symptoms
  • You are waiting for Covid test results or are within 7 days of a positive test

Relax and be lovely. Slow down, give space, take space and respect yourself and others and take a test

Let's all work together and do our bit and make this a great space to Revive Live!
