Nestled just off the High Street is the revolutionary pop-up arts venue Revelation, Ashford’s arts and music charity celebrating rising local talent alongside established headline artists. Atmospheric, intimate and quirky, the venue welcomes international musicians, legendary performers and engaging experiences for the community. Our mission is to be an arts hub for our growing community to come together, to create and to experience high quality performances.
Embedded at St Mary’s Church, Revelation provides a uniquely intimate setting in this historical gem, giving audiences an up-close and personal experience. With astonishing acoustics and 1000 years of history this venue is unlike any other in the region. Following the £1.7 million reordering, this central venue has been transformed into a flexible multi-use space with state-of-the-art facilities.
WHO WE REACH
Our venue capacity is 350 and each year we host over 40 events. We currently see 8,500 people coming to events at Revelation and 300 participating in activities. A further 12,000 people visit Create Festival where we host the Revelation Stage and around 700 people see each of our FREE performances at Ashford Bandstand.
We achieve an average reach of 135,000 through print and online press and local radio. Through our mailing list and social media channels our regular following is around 6,000 which is increased to around 26,000 by mutual promotions with arts partners across the region (including Dreamland Margate, Ramsgate Music Hall, Folkestone Quarterhouse, Love Ashford ).
The geographical spread of our audience is made up from Ashford itself and communities across Kent, with people travelling from London and much further afield to see well-known acts.
Our most frequent audiences are:
- music lovers aged 25-55, who have liberal views and want to be engaged and to build relationships.
- We reach families with children looking for fun, accessible and light-touch educational events.
- We also appeal to culture buffs, willing to pay top prices for premium artistic experiences and opportunities that offer exclusive access.
Revelation operates with support and sponsorship from local businesses, public funding and ticket sales. Our current supporters include: Arts Council England, Ashford Borough Council, Airfield Design, Ashford College and Curious Brew.
